Code of Ethics
| 1. Honesty counts. |
| Be honest and begin at the startblock to which you belong. Average-level
skaters shouldn't even think about starting among the top 300! |
| 2. Be considerate. |
| Start carefully and be considerate of other skaters. The route is so long
that you will have ample opportunity to take full advantage of your abilities.
Stay in control and keep your eyes ahead so you can react as the situation
dictates. |
| 3. Keep right. |
| Skate on the right side even when the street is broad. Leave enough space on
the left for faster skaters to pass, and keep cool when others pass you by.
Instead, think of the unique atmosphere, and enjoy yourself! |
| 4. Skate your own speed. |
| Hook up with a skater or group which matches your speed. Don't pass
blindly. |
| 5. Protect yourself. |
| Wear skating guards as your capabilities dictate. Beginners should wear
complete protection. |
| 6. Help out. |
| If you spot an injured skater, take it upon yourself to ask if he/she needs
help. Administer first aid if necessary. |
| 7. Don't be overly ambitious. |
Directions from the Race Organizers
Organising Committee Instructions
For your own safety, please follow the instructions of the race organizers
and official stations.
Route Safeguarding
The route is designed so that the entire street can be used for much of the
race. Otherwise there will be a clearly blocked-off part of the road, free from
motorized traffic. For safety reasons it is recommended to keep to the right in
places with impaired view. The route between Amriswil and the turning point will
be used for skaters going in both directions. It is imperative that participants
skate on the right side of the street in this section.
Signaling
Obstacles, fast descents and tight curves are marked with yellow flags,
standing orange and white triangle signs, blinking traffic lights, or skater
signals.
Braking Surfaces
There is a 500-meter-long braking surface on the first part of the descent
from St.Pelagiberg to the Sitter river. The second part of this descent is not
as steep but has curves that are difficult to survey. There is also a braking
surface on the descent between Illighausen and Schönenbaumgarten. Please adjust
your speed accordingly.
Time Limits
According to police regulations, participants who are not able to reach
predetermined time limits will be removed from the race in order to allow for
automobile traffic. Those persons will have the possibility to take a shorter
route back to the finish line (as directed by race officials) or, if absolutely
necessary, may be transported with designated vehicles. They will not, however,
be entitled to a race rating.
Food and Drink
All participants will be provided with food and drinks at the ten official
stations. Energy bars, fruits, water, and isotonic drinks will be available free
of charge. Drinks will be distributed in half-liter plastic bottles. All bottles
must be disposed of at the official stations. We recommend wearing a bottle
holder, which will be for sale where the racing numbers are distributed.
Accompanying Vehicles
For safety reasons, no private accompanying vehicles will be permitted on the
route. Only officially marked vehicles will be allowed.
Medical Recommendations
| Each participant is responsible for insuring that he/she is in good
shape without impairing his/her health. |
| Race doctors are entitled to remove race participants whose health
may be at risk. |
| Make sure to drink enough fluids during the entire race. We recommend
wearing a bottle holder. |
| Participants are responsible for providing adequate clothing for
themselves, including protection against sun and rain. |
| Foreign participants have to ensure that they are fully covered for
medical treatment in Switzerland. |
